Bhilai steel plant expansion

New Delhi, Feb 9 Steel Authority of India Ltd is expanding hot metal production capacity at its Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh to 7.5 million tonnes a year from the current 4 million tonnes.

The Rs 11,260 crore investment for the expansion and modernisation project will also be for increasing crude steel production to 7 million tonnes annually from 3.9 million tonnes.

The Union Steel Minister, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, laid the foundation stone for the project on Saturday.
