Coir Board to open sales outlets

Our Bureau

Kochi, Feb. 10 Coir Board has evolved a scheme for promotion and marketing of coir products through authorised retail outlets. This scheme is one among the domestic market development initiatives of the Board.

Under the scheme, quality coir products will be sold through the outlets. The public can purchase coir mats and other products as well as place orders with these outlets. Initially, a few outlets will be set up in the State and the scheme will be extended across the country in a phased manner.

The programme will be formally inaugurated by Mr A.C. Jose, Chairman, Coir Board, at Kolenchery near here on Monday.

Apart from promoting export market of coir and coir products, the Board is giving emphasis for the development of domestic market.

According to Mr Jose, the coir products intended for sale through the retail outlets will be procured from small-scale producers and distributed to the outlets by the Board.

This initiative is expected to boost the domestic market for coir products in a big way.
