Shipping Dubai Drydocks World to expand Dubai Drydocks World, the shipbuilding arm of State investor Dubai World, is eyeing yards in Asia to expand capacity. Talks are believed to have reached an advanced stage to buy a small unlisted shipyard on the Yangtse river delta in China’s Jiangsu province. India and Vietnam are believed to be the next targets. The company initiated the first move for acquisition abroad last year in September for Pan-United Marine, a Singapore shipbuilder, and subsequently in October to buy the city State’s offshore oil rig builder Labroy Marine. The chief executive has been quoted as saying that the future expansion plans are aimed at China, India and Vietnam to secure scarce docking space and beef up offshore oil rig building capacity.
