People OIL top post: ONGC’s Hazarika among 22 in the race Our Bureau Kolkata. Feb. 11 A total of 22 candidates are said to be in the race to become the next Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Ltd. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recently begun the search for a successor to the current CMD of OIL, Mr M.R. Pasrija, who will be retiring in December 2008. Mr Pasrija assumed office in March 2006. According to sources, candidates in the fray include Mr A.K. Hazarika, Director (onshore) of ONGC, and Mr N.M. Bora, Director (operation) of OIL. The others in the race are believed to be Mr Kishor Rungta, Director (finance) of Hindustan Cables; Mr M.K. Anand, Vice-President (finance), Engineers India Ltd (EIL); and Mr R.G. Rajan, CMD of Projects and Development India. A number of deputy general managers and general managers from OIL, Bharat Petroleum, Numaligarh Refinery, MRPL, Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Dredging Corporation have also joined the race.
