K7 Computing on comeback trail

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore, Feb. 11 Information security solutions company K7 Computing is back in the market offering total security solutions.

The 16-year-old Chennai-based firm was forced to move out of the domestic market due to lack of marketing support and unplanned growth, admits its founder and CEO, Mr Jayaraman Kesavardhanan.

The company nevertheless is attempting to re-establish its position here after a gap of 3-4 years, by instituting a professional team and rolling out two products – K7 Total Security and K7 Anti Virus. It has identified Compuage as its national distributor.

“Chennai is my home town and we are keen to establish ourselves here,” Mr Kesavardhanan told Business Line.

Japanese market

Recalling the company’s success story in Japan, where it had been able to partner with a Japanese entity and build software security products for that market over the last decade, he said “we are witnessing a good growth potential there, growing at 40 per cent year-on-year”.

According to him, the company’s products command a 25 per cent market for desktop security solutions.

K7 is planning to double its team size from the present 40 to 80 over the next 12 months.
