Software Oracle wins 800 customers Our Bureau Hyderabad, Feb. 11 Enterprise software maker Oracle has had over 800 customer wins in India in the last six months and believes that it is now in the next phase of growth. Oracle’s new customer wins include BSNL, Idea Cellular, Tata Indicom, Genpact, ICCI Bank and IT department among others. Oracle has begun to further consolidate its business in India and has established two more centres in the last six months. These customer wins span not just the enterprise resource planning product suite but also areas of business intelligence, customer relationship management, supply chain management, and human resource management systems. Rapid off-take“The enterprise software market and solutions around these businesses have witnessed rapid off-take in the last few quarters and this has been particularly pronounced in the last six months as assessed by independent research firms,” according to Mr Krishan Dhawan, Managing Director of Oracle India. “Products and applications in banking, financial services and insurance, telecom, utilities and retail along with the IT and ITeS segments are growing rapidly in India and all of them require solutions in customer relationship and human resources management. So is the case with the manufacturing sector where we have had wins including Tata Motors,” Mr Dhawan explained. Oracle has had a significant growth, building on a slew of acquisitions, and each acquisition has not only added new customers but provided options to cross-sell some of the products, he said. Two more centresOracle has consolidated its India presence and established two dedicated services centres over the last six months. One is aimed at helping partners and companies with new solutions, while the second is focussed on customising global products to meet specific requirements of local businesses, he said. On Oracle’s market share in Asia-Pacific, Mr Dhawan said it holds 63 per cent share in database businesses and its businesses have grown in business intelligence, customer relationship management, supply chain management, and human resource management systems.
