Kochi region Tata Crucible Quiz winners

Kochi, Feb. 13 Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2008 announced that Mr P. Vivek and Mr Vishnu Balakrishnan from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram were adjudged the winners of the regional finals in Kochi. The winning team from Kochi will now compete with regional winners from across 11 other cities, at the national finals scheduled to be held in Mumbai on March 17.

The challenging business quiz is in its fourth edition this year and was held in Kochi for the first time. This year, the quiz has also introduced a new concept called Nano Quizzing.

While Mr S Swaminathan , Director, Tata Tea Ltd, felicitated the winners with cash prize of Rs 60,000, the runner-up team of Mr Nigil Varghese Joy and Mr Premchand S from PSGM, Coimbatore walked away with cash prize of Rs 30,000.

The Kochi event saw participation of 78 teams in the preliminary rounds and was hosted by ace quizmaster Mr Giri Balasubramaniam.

Innovative concepts

The unique Campus Business Quiz, catering to students of engineering colleges, Business schools and other collegiate students has been extended to 12 cities, up from the previous eight cities.

The quiz has been known to bring in innovative quizzing concepts every year to keep the audience interest levels high at all times during the quiz: starting from the Bandwidth Quizzing to 20:20 Quizzing, to Pyramid Quizzing.

As part of the new concept of ‘Nano Quizzing’ introduced this year, there is a new round called ‘Nano Words’ that would provide the teams with a couple of words to arrive at a final answer.

After Kochi, the quiz will move to Indore (February 16), Bangalore (February 17), Kolkata (February 23), Chandigarh (February 29), Delhi (March 2) Chennai (March 8) and Pune (March 9).

The regional rounds, which commenced on February 2 at Hyderabad, have already taken place in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Lucknow.

The final will be held on March 17 in Mumbai.
