i-flex to consolidate presence overseas

Merger with Oracle has helped expand business

Mr N.R. K. Raman

Mumbai, Feb. 14 Technology solutions provider i-flex, now an Oracle company, is on an overseas expansion drive setting up new centres, consolidating its recently established ones at Greece and Chile and is in the process of finalising plans for a global delivery centre in China.

The company is also augmenting additional capacity with an investment of about Rs 200 crore to host about 4,500 people in India over the next three years, spread across Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore centres.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of i-flex, Mr N.R.K. Raman, said the centres in Greece and Chile have been established to serve the respective regional hubs. “While we are already having a presence in China, we plan to establish a global delivery centre there by early next fiscal.”Speaking to Business Line on the sidelines of the three-day Nasscom Leadership Forum, Mr Raman said that the scope of technology products and services offered had significantly expanded after merger with Oracle, enabling i-flex to offer a wider range of services and cross sell services. Most of the banking and financial services companies across geographies are in the process of consolidating their technology infrastructure and are seeking ways to new products and services. This has meant consolidation of their physical infrastructure and also mining into existing customers, he said.

Sub-prime crisis

On the impact of the sub-prime crisis, Mr Raman said that interaction with customers showed that as of now there was no change in their business plans. Most of the banks, including Citibank, have had their business outside of the US growing. However, the sub-prime crisis has led to a demand for new set of solutions for strengthening internal systems and centralised risk management, he said.

Islamic banking

The focus on Islamic banking solutions has resulted in significant wins in the West Asian market and has also enabled i-flex to consolidate its presence there with Oracle’s solutions that cover customer relationship management, he said. For i-flex, Europe already contributes to about 34 per cent of the revenues and this has the potential for further growth
