Telecommunications Marketing - New Products & Services Voxtel’s GPS navigation device Bangalore, Feb.14 Voxtel Telecom, distributor of cordless phones, has launched Global Positioning System (GPS) personal navigation device to add to its portfolio of telecommunication products in India. A subsidiary of the UK-based Binatone Electronics International Ltd (BEIL), Voxtel already markets analogue and digital cordless phones with a significant growth in its market share. The company hopes to leverage its competitive price to position GPS navigation gadget aggressively, said Mr Sa t Murthi, Sales Director, BEIL. It has tied up with leading large format retail establishments and is in talks with the automobile companies to popularise it. Mr Murthi said the GPS device, which unlike the single city mapping other devices have, would have ‘one India’ mapping for the user to be guided in any city. Besides, it would also have the facility for use as a mobile phone with a SIM card while MP3 music system will make it a popular personal companion, while navigating. The device priced at Rs 14,995, could become cheaper if the import duty levied on it is reduced to five per cent from 30 per cent, Mr Murthi said. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Telecommunications | New Products & Services
