Hyderabad, Feb. 15 Italian high-fashion garments, at least 14 top brands for both sexes, will be available in India through Alta Moda Garments, which is launching stores across the country.

The first store of Alta Moda will be launched in Hyderabad on Saturday. The company has exclusive rights to these 14 Italian brands for the Indian market, said Mr Manoj Kumar Saraogi, Chief Executive Officer of the company.

The Hyderabad-based garment company has firmed up plans to open 40 stores across the country in tier-2 and tier-3 cities in addition to the metros, he told newspersons here on Friday.

Operation mode

Of these, 6 stores would be company-owned and located at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Hyderabad. The rest would be franchised out. Each store would typically see an investment of around Rs 70 lakh.

Dr Claudio Colombo, who is associated with the company, said: “We want to sell fashion garments to people who would feel comfortable wearing them even with the brand label inside and not necessarily outside”.

Mr Federico Ghidini of La Sartoria Italiana, who also has a brand labelled with his name, said: “It was the first time that the Italian brands are being brought to the Indian market. We find a good market ahead for them”.

Product line

The stores will house the top Italian boutique brands and cater to formal and casual wear for men and women, accessories, high-end lingerie, and swimwear. The ratio of brands for men and women would be 30:70. It will target people between 16 and 50 years.

The Italian brandmakers will also provide consultants to Alta Moda to ensure that the products are of the right fit and suitable for the climate.
