Visakhapatnam, Feb. 15

Driver of a pilot launch is missing after a tug hit the launch anchored to the VIP jetty in the harbour channel here in the early hours of Friday, according to the Harbour police. Mechanical failure may have been the reason for the incident, according to the police.

While five members of the crew rushed out of the pilot launch on hearing shouts from those on board the tug that it had gone out of control, the driver, K. Krishna Rao (55), who was near the engine, could not react in time.

The Visakhapatnam Port Trust authorities are searching for the driver along with the police. A huge crane, Bheema, was used to lift the damaged pilot launch.
