Maytas Infra, BITS tie up to offer courses

Hyderabad, Feb. 15. Maytas Infra Ltd has joined hands with BITS-Pilani, to offer an off-campus work-integrated learning programmes to its employees.

The initiative called M BITS, is a first of its kind programme with industry participation to generate BS (Infrastructure Technology) professionals out of working people.

While Maytas Infra would provide a Rs 2 lakh support in addition to the regular salary to diploma engineers, who would be eligible to take the course, BITS will offer the course curricula and degree, explained Mr P.K.S. Madhav, Chief Executive Officer of Maytas Infra.

The three-year work integrated programme would see an intake of 200 people in the first year.

Over the next five years, about 1,000 employees are expected to benefit from the course, said Mr Srini Vudumula, Head HR of Maytas.

Growing synergy

For BITS- Pilani, this partnership is another in its growing synergy with the industry. It is already offering similar programmes in software, manufacturing, power, pharmaceutical etc.

“We are also open to offer courses to any infrastructure company that is interested,” said Prof L.K. Maheshwari, Vice-Chancellor.

A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed between Mr Madhav and Prof Maheshwarion Friday.

Maytas and BITS would in due course create a Center for Excellence in infrastructure. Maytas will take final year students from BITS-Pilani for the full semester Practice School programme.

A joint committee will be formed by BITS-Pilani and Maytas Centre for Learning and Leadership Development, with a mandate to continuously updating the design and delivery of the programme.
