Opinion - Letters
Budget focus

The article “Wanted: A Budget that combats global recession” (Business Line, February 15) and the editorial ‘For the RBI, some cues’ (Business Line, February 15) have great relevance in the context of framing the Budget for 2008-09.

The common man is already burdened with an increase in prices of petrol and diesel, which are bound to have a chain reaction, causing escalation of prices of essential commodities.

Any upward revision of taxes, excise duties and any other levies which will have the effect of pushing up prices will cause further problems to the common man.
