Kolkata, Feb. 20 Commercial production at Tata Motors’ small car factory at Singur is expected to begin in October this year, according to Mr Ravi Kant, Managing Director of Tata Motors Ltd. Speaking to newspersons after reviewing construction work at the plant site on Wednesday, Mr Ravi Kant said he was “happy” with the progress so far and hoped that trial production would begin by June-July this year. According to him, the required equipment was being put in place and, barring unforeseen circumstances like heavy rains or some other natural calamity, work would go on as per schedule. The weld shop, press shop, paint, assembly and engine shops were priority areas now. “We have always maintained that we will launch the vehicle in the second half of the next financial year. That means we have maintained the time line and today also we are maintaining the same,” Mr Kant pointed out. – Our Bureau More Stories on : Outlook | Cars | Tata Motors Ltd
