New Business Alstom India bags export orders worth Rs 592 cr Our Bureau New Delhi, Feb 21 Alstom Projects India Ltd (APIL), a subsidiary of the French engineering major Alstom SA, on Thursday announced it has bagged two export orders cumulatively worth Rs 592 crore. The company has secured a Rs 350-crore contract to set up a 255-MW hydro electric power station at Jinja, Uganda. It has also received a Rs 242-crore order for supply of equipment to Fujairah Independent Water and Power Plant in UAE, the company said in a statement. The Uganda order entails supply of turbines for the 5x51 MW Bujagali Hydro Electric Power Station. The scope of work for this project includes supply and commissioning of turbine, generator, balance of plant and hydro mechanical equipment. Alstom would be responsible for supplying five heat recovery steam generators for the Fujairah Independent Water and Power Plant, one of the world’s largest desalination plants, it said. “APIL will complete the design, engineering and supply of the heat recovery steam generator order by June 2009 and the hydro order by June 2011,” APIL Managing Director and Vice-Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Colombier, said.
