SBI adopts Nandigama village

Hyderabad, Feb. 21

State Bank of India (SBI) has adopted Nandigama village in Krishna district for 100 per cent financial inclusion under its `SBI Ka Apna Gaon' scheme. Mr O.P. Bhatt, Chairman, SBI, who visited the village on Thursday, said the bank had launched many schemes like Kisan Manch Programme, contract farming, value chain financing and micro finance scheme to the members of self-help groups (SHGs). Mr R.K. Sharma, Chief General Manager, SBI, Hyderabad Circle, said the bank was covering 5,500 villages in the State through 625 branches exclusively devoted to the farmers. It had provided Rs 4,100 crore as short-term credit through Kisan credit cards besides distributing Rs 1,725 crore to about three lakh SHGs, according to a release. - Our Bureau
