Human Resources Ma Foi to recruit expats in construction, retail sectors Our Bureau Chennai, Feb. 22 Ma Foi Management Consultants Ltd plans to recruit technical engineers and middle level mangers from western countries to work in construction and retail sectors, which are facing a huge manpower shortage. The Chennai-based HR company has formed a joint venture with the UK-based BBT Worldwide to bring expatriates to work on an interim period (say six months). The expatriates will be recruited from the UK, Netherlands and Scandinavia. Currently, there are around 1,800 expatriates working in various sectors, including manufacturing and engineering. This number is likely to increase to around 3,000 this year. Ma Foi plans to bring around 120 from western countries, Mr Pandia Rajan, Managing Director, Ma Foi, told newspersons. HR challengeThe domestic construction industry, which is growing at 25-30 per cent over the next three years, faces a huge challenge in terms of human resources. The demand gap for quality engineers is widening rapidly, and this has also pushed salaries upward of 20-25 per cent across all levels, he said. Mr Rajan said salary levels in the West have dropped, making India an attractive place to work for expatriates. The portfolio will include expatriate sales and marketing professionals. The joint venture is likely to earn revenue of €1 million this year, he said. More Stories on : Human Resources | Consulting | Real Estate & Construction
