Software Progress Soft to expand R&D Our Bureau Hyderabad, Feb. 25 Infrastructure software products and integration solutions provider, Progress Software Corporation, is set to expand its research and development centre based in Hyderabad, while setting up a dedicated sales team to tap the Indian market. The Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Progress Software, Mr Joseph W. Alsop, said that the company has appointed a new managing director and is keen to expand its business here. India now accounts for barely about one per cent of the total company’s revenues of $485 million. “We expect to set this up to 6-7 per cent in a couple of years. Since system integrators (SIs) influence decision of enterprises, partnerships with SIs like Infosys, TCS, Wipro would help penetrate the market,” Mr Alsop told Business Line. Progress Software products help SIs work on Services-Oriented Architecture (SoA) and help them build applications. Likewise, with software as a service gradually making entry in various business applications, progress solutions help companies deploy them faster, Mr Alsop explained. Now, in India, to celebrate the company’s three-year-old India development centre based in Hyderabad, he said that the company is in the process of hosting a Progress Technology Day next month to launch the company’s product offerings in India. NEW Managing DirectorThe company inducted Mr Ramesh Loganathan as Managing Director and Head of India Development Centre. The company now employs around 100 people and expects to ramp this up to 150 by the year-end. More Stories on : Software | Research & Development
