Mr Srinivasa Addepalli Our Bureau Kolkata, Feb. 26 Tata Communications has forged a NNI (Network-to-Network Interface) agreement with China Enterprise Netcom Corp Ltd, with a view to expanding its global VPN service to China. Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, Mr Srinivasa Addepalli, Senior Vice-President (Corporate Strategy), Tata Telecommunications Ltd, said that through the NNI, Tata Communications and China Enterprise Netcom have interconnected their respective multi-protocol label switching infrastructures. This would allow Tata Communications’ MNC customers VPN connectivity to reach beyond the existing 120 cities in India and 19 major business centres across North America, Asia and Europe to now also include 347 cities across China. The idea behind the initiative was to offer the company’s customers a single scalable and reliable VPN with deep reach in India and China, and broad reach around the world, Mr Addepalli said, and adding that carrier partnerships were crucial to provide the deep global reach required by customers’ networks. WiMax servicesOn providing WiMax services in India, he said the service has been launched in Bangalore. By March 2009, WiMax services would be launched in 15 cities across the country. Each city would have at least 300 hot spots, on an average. The WiMax services roll-out would entail an investment of $100 million, he said.
