Kolkata, Feb. 27 Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) has filed a suit against Procter & Gamble (P&G) in the Calcutta High Court for the alleged infringement of trademark of its product ‘Sunlight’ by ‘Tide’ of P&G. In the petition, it was stated that ‘Sun’ and ‘Sunlight’ were both registered trademarks of HUL and the colour yellow and orange were also registered by HUL. According to HUL, P&G, in its recent packaging of Tide, has used the same colour as that of Sunlight, which was a clear infringement. Justice Mr Sanjib Banerjee directed HUL to serve copy upon P&G and fixed the case for hearing in April. In the petition, HUL has sought an injunction restraining P&G from using the recent package of ‘Tide’ with the expression ‘power of Sun’. — Our Legal Correspondent More Stories on : IPR | Personal Products | Hindustan Unilever Ltd
