New Products & Services Northgate arm Globe7HK taps Chinese market Our Bureau Hyderabad, Feb. 28 Globe7HK Ltd., part of Northgate Technologies Ltd, in partnership with SINA Hong Kong Ltd unveiled a suite of Chinese-language Web tools for video-file sharing, gaming, streaming of video content and a low-cost Internet phone service. Called WOOP (meaning a sound to express excitement and happiness; to connect people from place to place), the co-branded service offers widgets, that enables you to share. This would be through SMS messaging, Internet calls, and access to over 500 free games in both Chinese and English, streaming video of breaking news, sports, entertainment and many others from around the world. WOOP also offers multimedia content from SINA.com.hk and other Chinese-language content including videos, entertainment news blogs and user generated content. The President and CEO of Globe7, Mr Clayton Haswell, in a statement to BSE, on behalf of Northgate said “these tools on WOOP will allow SINA Hong Kong users to utilise some of the most sophisticated Web 2.0 services.” Globe7 offers voice over Internet and a Beta version WOOP is available to selected SINA Hong Kong users.
