Info-Tech - Budget
`IT also begets IT'

Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman, Cognizant, says "With the knowledge economy booming, an outlay of Rs 15,000 crore for commissioning a world-class skill development program on a mission mode will be a significant catalyst for all skill-dependent industries. Giving teeth to the program with an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore in government equity will be seen as an attractive proposition by entrepreneurs and private players. It could well be the model of the future for creating the right framework for skills development." It's not just that `trust begets trust', as the Finance Minister stated in his speech. IT also begets IT. Investments in `information technology' have helped the government reap substantially higher `income tax' collections, as admitted by the Finance Minister. The government should leverage this powerful example and encourage investments in e-governance across all departments for transparent, expeditious, and smooth governance."
