Honda rolls out Aviator

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) has rolled out its 102cc scooter, Aviator. The vehicle is targeted at the ‘new emerging men’ who would love to experience the comfort of riding an automatic scooter on congested roads of metros and other cities, Mr P. Rajagopi, Regional Head (Sales – South), HMSI, told newspersons here on Saturday. The company, is a fully owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Japan. It has set a target to sell one lakh units of Aviator in 2008-09.

“The scooter segment has grown from 3 per cent of two-wheeler market in 1998 to 13 per cent in 2006-07. HMSI is already a market leader in India with 54 per cent share in automatic scooter segment. With Aviator, we hope to grow our market share further,” Mr Rajagopi said.

Available in two variants (standard and deluxe) and five colours, Avaitor is priced between Rs 43,539 and Rs 47,861 on road in Hyderabad, Kochi, Bangalore and Chennai (post-Budget prices). It would give 45-50 kmpl on city roads. Its features include disc brake, telescopic front suspension and 12-inch alloy wheels, among others. Mr Yamane, Advisor, HMSI, formally launched the scooter.
