Tea Inadequate tea offerings at Kolkata, Siliguri Our Bureau Kolkata, March 2 Last week there were no auctions at Kolkata and Siliguri due to inadequate offerings, according to J Thomas & Company Pvt Ltd. The small quantity of CTC leaf and dust teas on offer at Guwahati sold readily in line with quality. There was fair support from the major blender and strong inquiry from the internal section. Neither Orthodox nor Darjeeling sale was held last week. The sale numbers 11 and 12 were dropped in Kolkata due to insufficient arrivals. InternationalMombasa offerings met with less demand at easier rates with some teas remaining unsold due to the decline in quality and the correction in prices. Egypt, Yemen, Sudan and other West Asian shippers operated while other traditional exporters were selective. The shippers to Japan, UK and the Continent operated for the liquoring sorts while those to the CIS, West Asia and Turkey were active. More Stories on : Tea
