Rubber dealers welcome proposals

Kottayam, March 3

Mr George Valy, President of the Indian Rubber Dealer’s Federation ( IRDF) welcomed the decision to withdraw the Banking Cash Transaction Tax with effect from April 1, 2009. The IRDF had already represented this to the Finance Minister with the support of Mr Oommen Chandy, former Chief Minister of Kerala and Mr P.J. Kurian, MP. The withdrawal would benefit both farmers and dealers in the agriculture and trading sectors of the plantation crops. Mr Valy appealed to the Finance Minister to withdraw the tax as early as from April instead of postponing it for the next financial year. —
