Rubber Spot rubber prices improve Aravindan Kottayam, March 4 Spot rubber improved on Tuesday. The market appeared to be following the international trends but the energy level seemed to be too low lacking genuine consumer based buying above Rs 101 a kg for sheet rubber. Still the prices ruled firm as most of the dealers and growers were unwilling to sell the stocks expecting better prospects ahead. RSS 4 improved to Rs 102 from Rs 101.50 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi. RSS 3 spot flared up to Rs 115.68 from Rs 111.74 a kg at Bangkok. Its April futures closed better at ¥296.8 (Rs.115.84) against ¥296.2 a kg at TOCOM. Futures gainOn NMCE, the March contract improved to Rs 101.80 (100.69), April to Rs 104.61 (103.55), May to Rs 106.36 (105.47) and June contract to Rs 108.65 (107.38) per kg for RSS 4.The open interest stood at 6,776 (6,949) tonnes with 3,643 (3,842) tonnes in March, 2,060 (2,072) tonnes in April, 711 (693) tonnes in May and 362 (342) tonnes in June. The volumes were 1,262 (764) tonnes. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 102 (101.50); RSS-5: 100 (99.50); ungraded: 98 (97.50); ISNR 20: 99.75 (99.50) and latex 60 per cent: 70 (70).
