Dabur to launch cancer drug in US

New Delhi, March 4

Dabur Pharma announced that it has received approval for launching Irinotecan hydrochloride injection in the US. The drug is generic version of Pfizer's Camptosar, which had sales of over $556 million in the US market. The drug is used to treat metastatic carcinoma (a form of cancer) of the colon or rectum. "This is a major milestone for us. This is our fourth product approval in the US market wherein we have already submitted 13 dossiers. "The approval in US will provide a quantum jump to our aggressive growth plans," said Mr Ajay Kumar Vij, CEO, Dabur Pharma. The company has also filed with the Registrar of Companies for the scheme of amalgamation of Dabur Foods Ltd with itself and the effective date of merger would be March 3, the company informed the BSE. - Our Bureau
