A non-issue: GMR

Hyderabad, March 5

Reacting to the Parliamentary Panel’s recommendations, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), an arm of the GMR group, said that the subject of closure of the existing airport at Hyderabad is a non-issue because the decision “was a well-considered one” by the Union Government in 1999-2000 with the approval of Cabinet. “The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (which is being promoted by GHIAL) has been developed based on the terms and condit ions of the concession agreement entered with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2004,” a press release from the airport company said.
