Samba paddy procurement

Nagapatinam, March 5

Procurement of samba paddy by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) in the Cauvery delta region of Nagapattinam district has touched two lakh tonnes on Tuesday and the average daily arrival of paddy to the direct purchase centres dwindled to 2,500 tonnes against 5,000 tonnes last week. Mr P. Moorthy, Senior Regional Manager of TNCSC said that the TNCSC was taking steps to procure as maximum paddy as possible from the farmers and pointed out that the TNCSC was now procuring paddy through the 224 DPCs functioning in various parts of the district. He pointed out that the TNCSC had fixed a procurement target of 3.30 laky tonnes of paddy for the district. -Our Bureau
