Indian Bank's credit to SHGs

Kumbakonam, March 5

Indian Bank has so far credit linked more than 2.30 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to the tune of Rs 1,545.48 crore, said the Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, Mr M.S. Sundararajan. Speaking at the inauguration of the SHGs products expo 2008, organised jointly by the Kumbakonam, Tiruchi and Cuddalore circles of the bank, Mr Sundararajan said that during the current year till January 2008, the bank has lined 54,027 SHGs with credit to the tune of Rs 583.35 crore. The balance outstanding under SHG portfolio as on January 2008 is Rs 843.01 crore in 1.11 lakh SHGs. - Our Bureau
