Mumbai, March 6 The Dyestuff Manufacturers Association of India (DMAI), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, along with the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals and the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers will hold an interactive meet in Mumbai on March 10 and 11.
Mr Janak Mehta, President, DMAI, said the programme would involve a dialogue between the colorant industry and the end-users.
The aim is to understand and sharpen the contours of the evolving face of colorants and their role in accelerating economic growth through value additions. The Indian colorants industry accounts for about 7.5 per cent of the global colorant market. The dyes and dye intermediates’ exports in 2006-07 was Rs 10,197 crore, he said.
Senior representatives from a host of companies, such as Coca-Cola, Marks & Spencer, Tata International Ltd and Reliance Retail Ltd, are expected to participate in the meet.
The programme will also cover perspectives in textile retailing, opportunities and gaps in textile manufacturing, the global scenario in leather and paper, strategies for growth in coatings, challenges in the consumer care industry and emerging trends in plastic and hi-tech applications, Mr Mehta said.
