Tuticorin port exceeds target

Madurai, March 6 Tuticorin port has crossed the target set by the Government in container traffic of 4.08 lakh TEUs for 2007-08 on March 3 by handling 4,09,024 TEUs. The traffic in containers handled in the port so far during the current fiscal has recorded a growth of 20.52 per cent compared to 3,39,384 TEUs of containers handled during the corresponding period of the previous year, according to Mr A. Subbiah, Deputy Chairman of the Tuticorin Port Trust.
