Spur for women

The 2008 Budget is a move in the right direction of encouraging women to join the mainstream workforce. The Government has, in recent years, given special tax rebates to working women. But this year’s rise in statutory deduction together with fall in tax rates among most slabs will make a big difference to the household kitty.

Also, some special sops in favour of daughters with respect to saving schemes will bring in a much awaited positive response to the girl child.

Shubbida Randhawa, COO, Taurus Beverage Pvt Ltd.
