New Delhi, March 8

To mark International Women's Day on Saturday, Maruti Suzuki announced the setting up of five driving schools in the country. This is in addition to the 30 schools which the company has already set up across 27 cities. Maruti Driving Schools that started in 2005 have, till now, trained 15,000 women, constituting 52 per cent of the overall learners. The company has engaged female instructors who also equip them with other skills such as changing a flat tyre and handling minor repairs so as to make them independent in handling the vehicle. - Our Bureau
