Taj-GVK’s Chennai facility in May

Hyderabad, March 10

Taj-GVK Hotels and Resorts Ltd, a Tata-GVK joint venture, would open a star hotel in Chennai, fifth for the Group, in May. The Rs 150-crore facility, with room strength of 200, would offer a unique food and beverages menu. “This is going to be a big attraction to Chennaites and those visiting Chennai,” Mr Veer Vijay Singh, Director (Operations) of Taj-GVK, told Business Line. The hospitality major has also lined up Chandigarh and Hyderabad fa cilities in the next two years. “The 189-room new property coming up opposite Hyderabad Public School will be ready next year,” he said.At the existing hotels, the company plans to add 60 service apartments at Taj Krishna. “This is for people who want to stay a little longer. Besides, we will open high-end retailing facilities there. We will get international brands, selling their products at the hotel,” Mr Veer Vijay said. Already, Taj Deccan, another Taj-GVK hotel, had opened stores such as Canali, offering premium products.
