Rlys freight loadings up 14% in Feb

New Delhi, March 12 Indian Railways carried 70.54 million tonnes freight traffic in February, an increase of 14.38 per cent over the freight traffic carried during the same period last year. Though Railways has not yet released the commodity-wise loadings figures, it has been seeing higher loadings in iron ore and cement traffic in the last few months.

According to an official release, Indian Railways carried 714.25 mt of freight traffic during the first eleven months (April 2007 – February 2008) of the current financial year, showing almost nine per cent growth over the corresponding period last fiscal.
