Human Resources States - Tamil Nadu ‘Human capital, an important asset’
Mr K.V. Mahesh, Vice-President-Corporate Personnel and HR, TVS Srichakra Ltd, Madurai, addressing a meeting organised by the Department of Management Studies and the Business Line Club of The American College. Our Correspondent Madurai, March 12 A sense of belonging and ownership is the hallmark of successful management of human resources in enterprises, according to Mr K.V. Mahesh, Vice-President, Corporate Personnel and HR, TVS Srichakra Ltd, Madurai. The role of human resource personnel is strategic to an enterprise. Catalytic in nature, they need to touch the human hearts working with the organisation and prepare them for change by making them believe in their capacity to contribute, he said while addressing on ‘Trends in Human Resources Management’ at the valedictory session of a corporate lecture series on Environment Dynamics and Corporate Challenges, organised by the Department of Management Studies and the Business Line Club of The American College, here. Mr Mahesh said while the financial aspects of running the enterprise take the centre stage, customer focus, process improvement and learning and growth have become equally important, requiring the activities to be efficiently integrated to secure a consistent improvement in the process of change. In this context, the human capital with the organisation becomes an important asset and their capacity helps in gaining a cutting edge in business. The role of personnel in human resources management becomes strategic at this point in creating a caring culture for the success of the organisation. An element of trust needs to pervade at all levels, he added. Earlier, Mr R. Sundaram, Visiting Faculty, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, addressed on Global Rebalancing; Mr M.D. Vel, Managing Director, Indian Foods Ltd, Madurai, spoke on ‘Changes in the FMCG Sector’ and Mr P.K.
