Tea Higher volume on offer at Coonoor tea auctions P.S. Sundar Coonoor, March 12 Increased arrivals have pushed up the volume to be offered at the 11th auction of 2008 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association here tomorrow and Friday. An analysis of the catalogues of the various brokers indicates that the volume offered has risen by as much as 1.56 lakh kg over the previous week to a total of 8.4 lakh kg. Fresh arrivals are said to be 7.99 lakh kg. The balance consists of teas remaining unsold Leaf & dustsfrom the previous auctions. Of the 8.4 lakh kg, as much as 5.89 lakh kg belong to the leaf grades and 2.51 lakh kg belong to the dust grades. Again, as much as 7.80 lakh kg belong to CTC variety and only 0.60 lakh kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox continues to be low in both the leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 0.27 lakh kg belong to the orthodox while 5.62 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 0.33 lakh kg belong to the orthodox while 2.18 lakh kg, CTC. More Stories on : Tea
