Vulnerability in MS Office Excel

Coimbatore, March 12

Websense Security Labs has discovered a high-risk, zero-day vulnerability within Microsoft Office Excel. The vulnerability, discovered by Websense in November 2007, requires minimal user interaction. The company, in a press release here, stated that the exploit code could be embedded within Microsoft Excel files and launched upon opening an Excel document. “The code can be launched over e-mail, through a Web site or any other common method. Users are, therefore, advi sed to patch their machines,” the statement said.
