Mantri realtor mulls telemedicine facility

Our Bureau

Bangalore, March 13 Mantri Developers, who have built a few signature brand apartment complexes, will be leveraging technology to provide telemedicine at some of its complexes to bring critical healthcare to the doorsteps of residents.

In a pioneering effort, the company has entered into an agreement with Apollo Hospitals Ltd to extend teleconsultation service at Mantri Espana, a super luxury residential complex being developed on Sarjapur Outer Ring here.

The facility is expected to be launched at more than 300 apartment complexes by next year, said Mr Sushil Mantri, Chairman and Managing Director of Mantri Developers.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Mantri said that with busy professionals under pressure for time management for lifestyle needs, often finding little time for health care and major cities grappling the traffic problem putting patients conditions at risk, telemedicine could solve many problems.

He said telemedicine, which so far has been tried out between hospitals located in different geographical locations, will make its debut in homes where with the help of broadband and V-Sat links, residents could access instant medical advice from hospital experts.

Mrs Snehal Mantri, Director, Mantri Developers, said telemedicine was being planned in some of its projects outside Bangalore. The experiment will be carried out at its Chennai project Synergy, a 600 apartment complex and Mantri Tranquil in Kanakpura Road in Bangalore.

Dr K. Ganapathy, President of Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation (ATNF), said that with telemedicine a 24-hour diagnostic and pre-hospital management service could be popularised reducing health.

He said ATNF would provide cost-effective customised telehealth solutions in Mantri apartments.
