Our Bureau Mumbai, March 14 Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd (SHCIL) has launched an electronic stamping (e-stamping) facility in Karnataka. SHCIL, which has been appointed by the Government as a Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA), successfully implemented the e-stamping facility in five cities in Gujarat last year. In talks with GovtsThe Corporation is currently in advanced talks with the Governments of Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar and Tamil Nadu for establishing its e-stamping facility in these States. “Among others, the e-stamping system has been designed to prevent paper and process related fraudulent practices and offer a secure and reliable stamp duty collection mechanism. It also stores information in secured electronic form and build up a central data repository to facilitate easy verification; and generate online MIS reports for the Government,” said Mr R.C. Razdan, CMD, Stock Holding Corporation of India. The e-stamping system has multi-level security. The stamp certificate generated by the system comes with a unique identification number (UIN), which is not repeated. The authenticity of the stamp certificate can be verified with the help of UIN on the e-stamping Web site. Security featuresThe system generates a tamper-proof certificate through encryption of important identification content of the stamp certificate. An optical watermarking eliminates the possibility of duplication of the stamp certificate. The e-stamping facility will initially be available to the public at the sub-registrar offices (SROs) at Gandhinagar, Jayanagar, Shivajinagar and in SHCIL offices at J C Road, Kormangala, Jayanagar, Malleshwaram and Lawyer’s Association at Civil Court Complex, Gandhinagar. The State Government and SHCIL plan to roll-out the facility across Karnataka after completing a pilot project for a period of three months at the above locations.
