Spot rubber stays steady

Kottayam, March 15 Spot rubber finished unchanged on Saturday. RSS 4 closed flat at Rs 105 a kg at Kottayam but the grade improved by 25 paise to Rs 105.25 a kg at Kochi possibly reacting more closely to the positive signals from the domestic futures. The transactions were dull.

Futures gain

The rubber futures concluded the session in a positive note on NMCE. The March contract expired at Rs 105.05 (104.25) while the April futures firmed up to Rs 106.15 (105.68), May to Rs 108.22 (107.74) and June futures to Rs 109.90 (109.59) a kg for RSS 4. The volumes were 615 (1,434 ) lots. The open interest stood at 4,340 (4,315) tonnes with 204 (204) tonnes in March, 2,444 (2,447) tonnes in April, 1,032 (1,005) tonnes in May and 660 (659) tonnes in June.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 105 (105); RSS-5: 102.50 (102.50); ungraded: 100 (100); ISNR 20: 102 (102) and latex 60 per cent: 71.50 ( 71.50).
