Kareem calls for focus on domestic market

Kochi, March 17 The State Industries Minister, Mr Elamaram Kareem, called upon the industries to focus more on domestic market than exports in order to achieve better growth. He said this would also ensure social progress in a more equitable manner.

Presiding over the Dhanam Business Summit and Award Nite here, the Minister said that Government intervention was inevitable, along with allowing free enterprise on the industrial front.

Presenting the Dhanam Businessman of the Year 2007 award to Mr Kochouseph Chttilappally, Mr Chris Gopalakrishnan, CEO and Managing Director of Infosys, said that building a team committed to respectability in business is of paramount importance for the success of a business organisation.

Quoting the example of Infosys, he said the team members should have mutual respect and collective will to scale great heights.

He said that he was happy with the performance of the Infosys unit in Thiruvananthapuram, adding that the work on setting up an own campus of Infosys at Technopark in Thiruvananthapurm is fast progressing.

Awards

Awards were presented to the promoters of the top 20 popular consumer brands of Kerala at the function.

Earlier, internationally-renowned management consultant and trainer Mr Rahul Verghese led an impressive training session on ‘How to mould a world class team in your enterprise’.

The Editor and Managing Director of Dhanam Publications, Mr Kurian Abraham, welcomed the gathering and the Executive Director, Mr John S. Powath, proposed vote of thanks.
