Shamik Paul

Bangalore, March 19 Data storage equipment maker NetApp Inc said it would invest $200-300 million in India and increase its headcount to 2,000 from the present 750 in the next three to five years. A large part of this would be spent to acquire, develop and retain talent, said Mr Vikram Shah, President, India Operations, NetApp.

Mr Shah said the company at present is focused on creating an ecosystem in India that can develop complete products. The company has been working for the past two years to develop product management and programme management teams, Mr Shah said. The company is also developing the high-end technology and architecture and usability engineering teams in India.

It would increase the number of employees in the analytics team to 10 from the present 5 in the next 12-18 months.

Mr Shah said at present 25 per cent of the company’s revenue in India comes from the information technology sector. The retail sector contributes to about 7 per cent, he said. But the company expects growth from the retail and digital vigilance sector, he added.
