New Delhi, March 19

International College of Financial Planning Ltd, a part of the Bajaj Capital group offering specialised courses in the finance has acquired Bhartiya Gurukul, a company offering short-term courses on the financial market, for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will add teeth to ICPL’s course portfolio besides providing it with the physical assets of the company.

More centres

“At present ICPL has nine centres across the country. This will be scaled up to 14 centres with this acquisition,” Mr Anish Wig, CEO and Director, ICPL told Business Line.

ICPL has currently a student base of 4,500. It was launched in 2002 to initiate an entirely new platform for disseminating financial education to the future financial consultants of India.

The college is an authorised education provider of the Financial Planner Standards Board, India (FPSB) for the Certified Financial Planner CM (CFPCM) professional education programme.

The Delhi-based Bhartiya Gurukul’s core competencies are its short-term courses in stock market education. It has four centres in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Dehradun.

Renewed interest

“There is renewed enthusiasm in investing stock market from various quarter including housewives, self-traders and new investors. The short term courses would be helpful for this category of individuals,” he said, adding the company was also looking to enter tier 2 and tier 3 cities shortly.

“Our vision encompasses overall development of the professionals who would become the torchbearers of financial services revolution in India.

ICPL equips the students with all the requisite theoretical and practical inputs,” he added.

Mr Wig said the closely-held company is hoping to achieve a 100 per cent growth through this acquisition.

It will be spending extensively on faculty enhancement and branding.
