SMEs unaware of available tools: AMI

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, March 20 While major players such as Microsoft and SAP are bullish about the SME (small and medium enterprises) sector, a recent study conducted by research firm Access Markets International (AMI) Partners has revealed that the sector is unaware of the technology solutions available to cater to their needs.

AMI Partners was commissioned by Microsoft to conduct the study to help create better understanding around SMEs among various players in the ecosystem.

Mr S. Balaji, Director (Channel Sales - SMEs) of Microsoft Corporation India, stressed on the need for a concerted effort among IT majors, with industry bodies and public institutions, to conduct IT awareness seminars (for SMEs), promote forums for SME representatives, leverage the power of Web by creating a joint portal (to serve as a central repository of information on ICT-related issues), organise industry exchange programmes and institute awards to recognise excellence.
