The Fair, organised in association with Petersburg Technical Fair, 2008, is said to have attracted over 8,500 serious business visitors. He clarified that the value did not include the amount that was not stated by many of the exhibitors, as discussions were still on. He said on the basis of feedback forms received from exporter-members so far, the total number of contacts made during the exhibition was over 800.

The enquiries pertained to engineering items such as Solid State Relays, Relay Starters, Castings including aluminium castings, Warning Switches, Closed Die Forgings, Air Pollution Control equipment, conveyors, piston rings, auto parts chemicals etc.

MoU signed

Pointing out that Indee-St Petersburg has opened a new vista in trade relations between India and Russia, he said the Council has also signed MoUs with the St Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Leningrad Chamber of Commerce for enhancing mutual cooperation in trade.

Mr Shah informed that a joint venture agreement was also signed between Sharp Tools, Coimbatore and Elswere of Russia to form a new entity “Esweld” for manufacture of components for welding operations in the Elektrostal region near Moscow.
