Indian Bank banking service centre

Madurai, March 23 The Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, inaugurated on Saturday a banking service centre (BSC) attached to its Okkur branch at Melapoongudi in Sivaganga district, near here. The centre is a step to deliver banking services online to unbanked masses, under financial inclusion programme, through ‘Internet kiosks’. This is linked to a nearby ‘home branch’. The banking transactions facilitated are cash deposits, cash withdrawal, transfer transactions, balance enquiry and statement of accounts. The opening of accounts will be facilitated by the kiosk operator, who is authorised to operate only the designated accounts with a limit in transaction to the extent of Rs 10,000. —
