Outlook States - Kerala Concept Hospitality set to expand hotel management portfolio Sankar Radhakrishnan Thiruvananthapuram, March 24 Concept Hospitality, the Mumbai-based hotel management and consultancy company, is set to expand the portfolio of hotels it manages. The company, which currently manages nine hotels across the country, is set to add eight more hotels in India to its network over the next two years, said Mr Param Kannampilly, Chairman and Managing Director, Concept Hospitality Ltd. Also on the cards is an international foray, with two properties in China and one in Johannesburg in South Africa, he told Business Line. In the next few years, the company is also looking at venturing into new businesses. Currently, on the company’s radar are businesses such as homes for “senior citizens” and hospitality education institutions, Mr Kannampilly said. The privately held Concept Hospitality may look at bringing on board additional investors to fund these ventures, he added. In India, the company currently manages hotels such as The Orchid and Rodas in Mumbai, Uppals Orchid in New Delhi and Floatel in Kolkata. This year, it plans to open four new hotels in destinations such as Kollam in Kerala, Hyderabad, Pune and Mashobra near Shimla. Of these, The Beach Orchid in Kollam and the property in Hyderabad are set to open in the next couple of months. Next year, the company will open new hotels in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Noida near New Delhi, he added. All hotels the company manages follow various good environmental practices, Mr Kannampilly said. However, only hotels with the ‘Orchid’ brand go in for environmental certification, he pointed out.
