Agri-Biz & Commodities - Tea
Prices dearer at Coimbatore tea auctions

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, March 24 Total offerings at the weekly auction held at the Tea Trade Association here on Friday amounted to 4.88 lakh kg, with leaf grades accounting for 1.75 lakh kg and dust offerings of 3.13 lakh kg. The well-made larger orthodox leaf grades ruled dearer by Rs 2-3, while others quoted lower Re 1-Rs 2.

There was limited internal demand, HUL was selective, but CIS lent fair support. Good varieties of CTC leaf grades (especially smaller brokens) remained steady to dearer by Re 1.

Exporters active

Exporters and internal buyers were active, but HUL stayed quiet. The best and good liquoring teas sold steady to lower by Re 1. Exporters operated on medium and plainer teas, packeteers operated selectively on liquoring teas.
